How Propellar Pump Units Work
We use Air-O-Lator pumps w/Franklin® Electric submersible
motors, which are water-cooled and water-lubricated.
A scientifically engineered foul resistant propeller
rotates at a shaft speed of 3450 rpm.

PUMPAGE, AERATION AND MIX
The Carnival 4VANE and 8VANE propeller
pump units move a large volume of water
through a converging nozzle, causing shearing
to occur, breaking the water into micro droplets
and exposing more water surface area to the
atmosphere. As the water returns to the “parent
body”, each droplet drags an additional amount
of water with it, causing an “induced flow”
effect, which in essence increases the surface
area of the lake. All of these factors result in
excellent aeration.
Another event that occurs simultaneously is the
cooling that takes place. This cooler water tends
to sink, since it is heavier and denser, displacing
warmer water that is trying to rise.

CENTRIFUGAL PUMP UNITS
Air-O-Lator, as on the propeller pump unit, uses
the Franklin Electric, 3450-rpm motor on this unit.
However, a centrifugal pump is employed.

PRESSURE AND AESTHETICS
Hundreds of hours of engineering design have
gone into the development of the Font’N-Aire centrifugal
pump. The unique center discharge design
allows for high pressure to develop, thus permitting
terrific heights to be achieved at far less horsepower
compared to competitive fountain equipment.
The centrifugal pump unit spray patterns of the
GALAXY, NOVA, SKYWARD, SOLACE, NORTHSTAR
and DIANA, while aerating water, should
only be used for aesthetics since the volume is not
created as with a propeller pump unit.
The centrifugal pump allows cooling to occur by
evaporation since a fine “mist” is developed due to
the pump pressures created.

Advantages. . .
     Optional Equipment... Cable Selection
•   Stainless steel Franklin Electric submersible
     motor, engineered for submergence, watercooled,
     water-lubricated. No oil to contaminate
or rob energy. U.L. recognized, C.S.A. certified.
•    5/8” diameter, 1-1/2” long motor shaft. No long
shafts to bend or become out of balance.
•     No seals or bearings to maintain.
•     High speed, foul resistant propeller or impeller,
provide high shear water spraying action. No
     lazy spray or bubbles.
•    One piece, square flotation for stability. No oscillation
can occur as with round floats.
•     Water tight removable 100’ power cable standard.
Cable available in longer lengths by 50’
     increments.
•    Three year limited warranty.
•    ETL listed (ANSI/UL508) control panel with time
clock, ELCI* (single phase only) and as required
single phase or three phase controls.
